ePrivacyseal Global

ePrivacyseal Global creates trust and reliability for your digital products worldwide.

The ePrivacyseal Global Data Protection Seal (EPS Global) is a state-of-the-art certification program that helps companies demonstrate their commitment protecting personal data inspired by the most recognized and well-known data protection regulation: the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

EPS Global provides a clear and easily recognizable certificate of trust for customers, employees, and business partners identifying that your company takes data protection seriously. During the audit, ePrivacy verifies whether processes are in place ensuring the security and privacy of personal data – privacy by design. By achieving EPS Global, companies show their dedication to responsible personal data management and help building brand trust for the product globally. The seal can be used worldwide and is not geographically restricted to the EU.

The unique certification program was developed by German data protection lawyers and data security experts. EPS Global is specifically designed for products operating globally or products launching in Europe soon. The seal fulfils initial entry requirements in Europe and identifies conditions to be met when operating in Europe. In addition, EPS Global supports the implementation of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), for example the right to delete personal information, the right to access personal information, the right to rectification, and the right to opt-out.

If you have been awarded with the ePrivacyseal EU recently, you can upgrade your data protection seal to EPS Global. Get in touch with us to learn more!

How does the EPS Global differ from the ePrivacyseal?

The EPS Global is a seal developed specifically for the global digital industry. Unlike the traditional ePrivacy Seal, it excludes three requirements which, due to the local specifics in each case, must generally also comply with local laws and therefore cannot be checked by German data protection experts. Please find the criteria catalogue for certification with the EPS Global here. It is continuously adapted and based on the strict GDPR requirements:

  1. lawfulness of data processing
  2. information obligations
  3. right to erasure and rectification
  4. data subject rights
  5. EU entry requirements
  6. GAP analysis
  7. privacy policy
  8. record of processing activities
  9. technical and organizational measures
  10. etc.

EPS Global requires that the following three criteria are assumed to be fulfilled in each case:

  1. Consent:
For the respective data processing consent has been obtained, in accordance with the relevant law
  2. Data Processing Agreement (DPA):
A DPA has been agreed, if required at all, in accordance with the respective law
  3. International data transfer: If the respective law provides for special requirements for the permissibility of international data transfer, the necessary requirements have been ensured

All three criteria will therefore not be reviewed by our data protection experts, as these criteria are generally subject to local specifics. In all other respects, however, the criteria correspond to those of the ePrivacy Seal and thus to a far-reaching review of whether and which criteria of the GDPR are met for their respective product.

EPS Global therefore prepares the entry of your company and the use of the products offered by your company in the EU. The audit is based on one of the strictest data protection laws in the world, the GDPR. It is particularly suitable for companies that are therefore planning their EU entry and need a reliable data protection review of the products.
